US President Donald Trump has said that the United States is “very close” to achieving its objectives in the conflict with Iran, hinting at a possible reduction in military operations while urging other nations to take greater responsibility for securing the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted what he described as significant military progress against Iran. He claimed that US forces had substantially weakened Iran’s missile capabilities, damaged its defense infrastructure, and neutralized key elements of its naval and air power. He also reiterated that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons remains a top priority.
Trump emphasized that the United States continues to safeguard its allies in the Middle East, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
A major focus of his statement was the future of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy route. Trump called on countries that rely on the waterway to take the lead in ensuring its security, suggesting a shift away from direct US involvement. While he said the US could provide support if requested, he stressed that such assistance should not be necessary once Iran’s threat is eliminated.
