JAMMU: Jammu Police have arrested three persons for allegedly printing and manufacturing counterfeit currency notes at a rented premises in the Chowadhi area of Jammu.
The action was taken by Police Post Sainik Colony, Police Station Channi Himmat, following information about suspected counterfeit currency-related activity at the premises. A police team conducted a search and apprehended three persons identified as Vijay Sahani, a native of Siwan in Bihar; Indrajeet Kumar of Sahib Ganj, Jharkhand; and Rahul Ahirwar of Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Police said the search led to the recovery of suspected low-quality counterfeit ₹100 notes with a face value of ₹13,500. A printing machine, paper cutter, ink bottles of different colours, a toka and other documents and materials suspected to be linked to the activity were also seized.
An FIR, numbered 269/2026, has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat under Sections 178, 180, 181 and 3(5) of the BNS and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act. Investigation is underway.
According to police, the probe is aimed at establishing the alleged modus operandi, tracing the source and intended circulation of the suspected counterfeit currency and determining whether other persons were involved.
Jammu Police said legal action would be taken against those found involved in the manufacture, possession, circulation or other unlawful activities relating to counterfeit currency.
