SRINAGAR: Social Welfare Department (SWD), SANKALP-HEW Srinagar organised a vocational training programme at S.P. College, Srinagar, with the objective of promoting skill development, self-employment and livelihood opportunities among participants.
Resource persons from the District Industries Centre (DIC), Srinagar, and the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Srinagar, participated in the programme and provided valuable guidance to the participants on various aspects of vocational skills, entrepreneurship, self-employment opportunities and available support mechanisms.
During the programme, the resource persons highlighted the importance of acquiring market-oriented skills and encouraged participants to explore entrepreneurship and self-employment as viable avenues for sustainable livelihoods. They also apprised the participants about the institutional support and opportunities available through DIC and JKEDI.
The Social Welfare Department emphasized that such initiatives are aimed at empowering individuals through skill development and facilitating their economic and social inclusion. The department reiterated its commitment to organizing similar programmes to create greater awareness about vocational training, entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities.
