REASI: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, on Tuesday visited Police Post Dewal and SOG Gulabgarh in Mahore to review security arrangements and assess operational preparedness, besides conducting a public outreach-cum-grievance redressal programme under Thana Diwas.
The SSP was accompanied by AdSP Reasi Iftikhar Ahmed, SDPO Mahore, DySP SOG Mahore/Chassana and SHO Police Station Mahore.
During the Thana Diwas programme at Dewal, SSP Tibrewal interacted with local residents and gave a patient hearing to their grievances and demands. The residents raised issues concerning the construction of a dedicated building for Police Post Dewal, organisation of sports tournaments in the area and expediting character verification processes.
The SSP assured the residents that issues falling within the jurisdiction of the Police Department would be addressed on priority, while matters concerning other departments would be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.
During the visit, he also reviewed security arrangements at SOG Gulabgarh and Police Post Dewal, focusing on operational preparedness and the working conditions of personnel deployed in the remote and challenging terrain. He interacted with police personnel and jawans, enquired about their welfare and assessed the difficulties faced by them during deployment.
The SSP also inspected arms and ammunition, emphasising operational readiness, proper maintenance of weapons and equipment, alertness and discipline among the deployed personnel.
He subsequently interacted with members of the Village Defence Guard (VDG) and appreciated their contribution towards maintaining peace and security in remote and vulnerable areas. The VDG members were advised to remain vigilant, maintain close coordination with the local police and immediately report any suspicious movement or activity.
Outstanding VDG members were also rewarded in recognition of their dedication and contribution towards strengthening the local security mechanism.
Emphasising the importance of coordinated efforts, the SSP called for stronger cooperation among the police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and VDG members to ensure effective security arrangements in the geographically challenging region.
The initiative also highlighted the importance of community participation in maintaining peace, security and communal harmony, while strengthening police-public relations and building public confidence in law enforcement.
The visit provided residents of the far-flung area an opportunity to directly approach senior police officers with their grievances, while enabling the police leadership to assess ground-level security requirements and the welfare of personnel deployed in difficult locations.
The programme reaffirmed District Police Reasi’s commitment to accessible, responsive and people-friendly policing, strengthening security in remote areas and promoting active community participation in maintaining peace and stability.
