SRINAGAR: In a major crackdown on terror networks, Srinagar Police on Saturday attached a three-storey residential house valued at around ₹2 crore, belonging to the family of designated TRF commander Sajad Ahmad Sheikh alias Sajad Gul.
The property, constructed over 15 marlas of land (Survey No. 43 min, Estate Khushipora) at Rose Avenue, HMT, stands recorded in the name of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, father of the terrorist, as confirmed by revenue records and verification from the Tehsildar Central, Shalteng.
According to police, the attachment has been carried out in connection with FIR No. 235/2022 registered at Police Station Parimpora under sections 13, 38, 20 of the UAPA and 2/3 of the EIMCO Act. Proceedings were initiated under Section 25 of the UAPA, which empowers authorities to seize properties used or intended for terrorist activities. The action was executed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate concerned.
While the house is registered in the name of the terrorist’s father, investigation revealed that Sajad Gul is an active stakeholder. He has been involved in facilitating terrorism, spreading anti-national propaganda, and inciting disaffection against the government through various online and social media platforms.
Police said the attachment is part of its ongoing strategy to dismantle the financial, logistical, and operational networks of terrorism, including cross-border sponsors and local sympathizers.
“This action sends a strong message that anyone aiding or abetting terrorism will face stringent legal consequences, including forfeiture of illegally acquired assets. Srinagar Police remains committed to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding peace and public order,” the statement read.
