SAMBA: A one-day Capacity Building Entrepreneurship Mela under Mission YUVA was organized today at Government Polytechnic College Samba. District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajesh Sharma was the Chief Guest.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the DDC, followed by a welcome song dedicated to Mission YUVA.
In his address, the DDC emphasized the need to equip youth with entrepreneurial skills and a growth mindset to create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Earlier, Assistant Director, Employment Naresh Kumar delivered an introductory address, who explained the objectives of the Entrepreneurship Mela and gave a brief overview of Mission YUVA.
The Mela aimed to provide a high-impact platform to empower youth with soft skills, critical thinking, adaptability and entrepreneurial insights. It particularly targeted students from Government Degree Colleges, ITIs, and Polytechnic Institutions, encouraging them to explore opportunities in skill development, innovation, and livelihood generation. The initiative marks a significant step toward nurturing a skilled, confident, and self-reliant generation.
Principal, Government Polytechnic Vinay Gupta and Principal ITI Amanpreet Singh introduced the capacity-building modules under Mission YUVA. These included hands-on sessions in Canva, PowerPoint, and other relevant digital tools. Special emphasis was placed on counselling for female aspirants, fostering inclusivity in entrepreneurship.
Later, the District Development Commissioner presented loan sanction letters to 20 aspiring entrepreneurs to support the initiation of their business ventures. The event was also graced by the Zonal Head and Cluster Head of J&K Bank, who shared insights on financial support for budding entrepreneurs.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Naresh Kumar, Assistant Director, District Employment & Counselling Centre, Samba.
