JAMMU: BJP has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of human lives and property caused by the devastation due to incessant rains, flash floods, and cloudbursts in various parts of J&K, especially in the Jammu region.
In a statement issued here, BJP spokesperson Parimoksh Seth said that while BJP leadership and workers are tirelessly working on the ground to assist people in ongoing rescue and relief operations, the National Conference (NC) government and its cadre remain completely absent.
“Jammu region is passing through one of the most difficult times, but instead of standing with the people, NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah is busy playing politics. His demand for restoration of statehood at this critical juncture reflects insensitivity towards the miseries of the people,” Seth remarked.
Highlighting BJP’s efforts, Seth informed that MPs and MLAs of the party have collectively contributed over ₹30 crores from their Constituency Development Funds (CDF) towards relief and rehabilitation. “BJP workers are working shoulder-to-shoulder with the people, setting up relief and rehabilitation camps, while NC leaders and workers are nowhere to be seen,” he added.
Calling Dr. Abdullah’s remarks a “deliberate attempt to divert public attention from the NC government’s complete failure to provide basic amenities during this crisis,” Seth said that both the Chief Minister, NC ministers, and the party cadre are missing from the ground when people need them the most.
The BJP spokesperson further condemned the NC President’s criticism of the Centre’s security-centric approach, stating: “The security forces have played a vital role in maintaining law and order as well as in carrying out relief and rehabilitation efforts. Instead of questioning them, their contribution should be applauded.”
Seth reiterated BJP’s commitment to stand firmly with the people of J&K during this testing time and assured that the party will continue to extend all possible support for relief and rehabilitation.
