UDHAMPUR: MLA Ramnagar Dr Sunil Bhardwaj on Saturday undertook a day-long developmental tour of Basantgarh block, laying the foundation stones for two key infrastructure projects and holding public darbars at three locations to address people’s grievances.
The tour focused on strengthening administrative infrastructure, improving road connectivity and ensuring the timely redressal of public issues in the hilly areas of the constituency.
Dr Bhardwaj expressed gratitude to Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office and Udhampur MP Dr Jitendra Singh for his continued guidance and support, particularly in securing approvals for major developmental and road connectivity projects across the Ramnagar constituency.
As part of the tour, the MLA laid the foundation stone for a dedicated Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office complex in Ramnagar, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.92 crore. The existing office has been facing space constraints and inadequate facilities for a considerable period, causing inconvenience to the public. The new complex is expected to improve administrative efficiency and provide better facilities for visitors.
In another major initiative, Dr Bhardwaj laid the foundation stone for the Jhanju Bridge at Panchayat Mang in Basantgarh. The bridge addresses a long-pending demand of local residents dating back around 75 years and is expected to improve connectivity between surrounding villages, facilitating movement and supporting socio-economic activities.
During the tour, the MLA, accompanied by departmental officials, also held public darbars at Kadwah, Loudhra and Khaned panchayats. The meetings provided residents with an opportunity to raise local concerns and seek intervention on developmental and administrative matters.
Dr Bhardwaj reviewed the requirements highlighted by residents, heard public deputations and issued directions to the concerned departments for the prompt redressal of grievances. The interactions were aimed at strengthening direct communication between the administration and the public and ensuring that local issues receive timely attention.
Addressing public gatherings, the MLA reiterated his commitment to equitable development across every part of the Ramnagar constituency. He emphasised that infrastructure development, improved public services and accessible governance would remain key priorities, with a focus on addressing the needs of residents in remote and hilly areas.
Local Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, prominent citizens and community representatives, including Kewal Parihar, Suram Chand, Jaidev Singh, Artish Singh, Joginder Bhagat, Dikshant Sharma, Pooja Thakur, Shapan Thakur, Ajeet Singh, Ishwat and Waseem, accompanied the MLA during the day-long tour and witnessed the foundation-laying ceremonies and public interactions.
