JAMMU: Continuing its crackdown against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Jammu Police achieved another success as Miran Sahib Police recovered 20 grams of heroin-like substance and arrested two drug peddlers near the Ring Road underpass within the jurisdiction of Police Station Miran Sahib.
A police team from Police Station Miran Sahib, led by the SHO and operating under the supervision of the SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu, established a naka near the Ring Road underpass. During checking and frisking, the team apprehended two individuals identified as Anil Choudhary, son of Azel Chand, resident of Nari, Miran Sahib, and Akashjot Singh, son of Prabhjot Singh, resident of Ward No. 10, Mill Area, R.S. Pura.
During the search, police recovered 11.84 grams of heroin with polythene from Anil Choudhary and 9.55 grams of heroin without polythene from Akashjot Singh, taking the total recovery to 20 grams.
In this connection, FIR No. 21/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib. Both accused have been arrested and the contraband seized.
Further investigation is underway to trace backward and forward linkages and to identify the wider drug trafficking network.
Jammu Police reiterated its firm resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse.
