JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday ordered a major reshuffle in the Police Department, transferring and posting 14 senior officers, including several IPS and JKPS officers, with immediate effect.
The transfers were ordered by the Home Department through Government Order No. 438-Home of 2026, dated August 27, 2026, in the interest of administration.
Among the key changes, Sujit Kumar, IPS, has been posted as IGP Kashmir Zone, while Tejinder Singh, IPS, has been appointed IG Jammu Zone.
Shakti Kumar Pathak, IPS, has been designated as Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau, while M.K. Sinha, IPS, has been shifted from ADG Headquarters and posted as ADG CID, J&K.
According to the order, Nitish Kumar, IPS, presently ADG CID, J&K, has been transferred and posted as ADG Armed Police, J&K, against an available vacancy.
Uttam Chand, IPS, presently IGP (Police Operations & Services), Police Headquarters, has been transferred and posted as IGP Railways, J&K, replacing Vivek Gupta. He will, however, continue to hold the additional charge of IGP (Police Operations & Services), Police Headquarters, till further orders.
Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, presently IG Jammu Zone, has been transferred and posted as IG Headquarters, J&K, against an available vacancy.
Sujit Kumar, IPS, presently IG Security, J&K, has been transferred and posted as IG Kashmir Zone, against an available vacancy.
Vivek Gupta, IPS, presently IGP Railways, J&K, has been transferred and posted as IGP Security, J&K, replacing Sujit Kumar.
Tejinder Singh, IPS, presently IG CID, J&K, has been transferred and posted as IG Jammu Zone, replacing Bhim Sen Tuti.
Shakti Kumar Pathak, IPS, has been designated as Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Mubassir Latifi Ameer, IPS, presently DIG (Personnel), Police Headquarters, and holding additional charge of DIG Training, PHQ, has been transferred and posted as DIG IR Kashmir, against an available vacancy.
At the district level, Sahil Sarangal, IPS, presently SSP Handwara, has been transferred and posted as SSP Pulwama, against an available vacancy.
Sunny Gupta, IPS, presently Additional SP Anantnag, has been transferred and posted as SSP Kishtwar, replacing Naresh Singh.
Tahir Saleem Khan, JKPS, presently SO to IG Kashmir Zone, has been transferred and posted as SSP Handwara, replacing Sahil Sarangal.
Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, JKPS, presently SSP Special Crime Wing Kashmir, has been transferred and posted as SO to IG Kashmir Zone, replacing Tahir Saleem Khan.
Naresh Singh, JKPS, presently SSP Kishtwar, has been transferred and posted as SSP Rajouri, against an available vacancy.
