RAMBAN: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, a team of the Legal Metrology Department Ramban conducted inspections of businesses establishments in Ukharhal and Senabati areas of the district.
During the inspection, the team verified the authenticity and accuracy of weights and measures being used by traders in their business transactions. The team also examined packed items being sold to consumers to ensure that mandatory labeling requirements were met.
Traders were directed to strictly comply with the provisions of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the rules framed thereunder, which mandate proper declarations on product packaging to ensure transparency in trade practices and safeguard consumer rights.
Meanwhile, the Legal Metrology Unit Ramban had earlier imposed a penalty of Rs. 50,000 (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) on a hardware manufacturer for offences punishable under Section 18/36(1) of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the rules made thereunder.
