LEH: In a notable administrative move, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh—previously known as Raj Niwas—has been officially renamed Lok Niwas.
The announcement was made on Sunday by Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta.
“A historic moment for Ladakh. Today, Raj Niwas has been officially renamed as Lok Niwas, symbolising our deep commitment to people-centric governance and inclusive development,” the Office of the Lt Governor said in a post on X.
The declaration was accompanied by a photograph showing the Lieutenant Governor standing next to the newly installed nameplate at the main entrance of the premises.
Officials said the renaming underscores the administration’s focus on enhancing public participation, strengthening citizen engagement, and promoting a governance model rooted in accessibility and inclusivity.
