SRINAGAR: Night temperatures dropped below the freezing point across most parts of Kashmir, with several weather stations recording the coldest night of the season so far, official data shows.
Pahalgam was the coldest in the Valley at –4.3°C, followed by Zethan Rafiabad at –4.1°C and Pulwama at –3.8°C.
In Srinagar, the summer capital, the minimum temperature settled at –0.9°C, while Srinagar Airport recorded a sharper dip to –2.4°C.
Other minimum temperatures across Kashmir were:
- Qazigund: –1.0°C
- Gulmarg: –1.6°C
- Budgam: –1.1°C
- Baramulla: –2.0°C
- Shopian: –3.5°C
- Awantipora: –3.0°C
- Sonamarg: –0.9°C
A few stations stayed marginally above the freezing mark, including:
- Kokernag: 1.1°C
- Kulgam: 0.6°C
- Ganderbal: 0.4°C
Jammu and Ladakh Update
Unlike the Valley, most parts of Jammu region recorded comparatively warmer nights, with temperatures remaining above freezing:
- Jammu: 8.3°C
- Jammu Airport: 8.6°C
- Katra: 9.2°C
- Kathua: 7.4°C
- Udhampur: 3.6°C
- Rajouri: 2.5°C
- Banihal: 1.5°C
- Bhaderwah: 2.0°C
- Samba: 3.0°C
- Ramban: 4.9°C
Severe cold conditions prevailed in Ladakh, where temperatures continued to plunge. Leh recorded –7.2°C, Kargil –6.4°C, and Nubra Valley –3.2°C.
