JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case against the wife of an Army officer for allegedly collecting and sharing sensitive information with foreign intelligence operatives, according to reports on Sunday.
The woman, who hails from Telangana and currently resides in Jammu with her husband, is suspected of having been in contact with individuals allegedly linked to a Chinese intelligence network, the reports said.
According to sources, the accused was questioned by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-rank officer following the registration of the case. Investigators are examining the nature of her activities and whether any information or material was communicated to foreign intelligence operatives.
Sources said the woman had been pursuing certain research-related activities, which are also under scrutiny as part of the investigation.
The case was registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station on Friday under the Official Secrets Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused has not been arrested so far. Sources said the preliminary inquiry had not established that she had shared any sensitive information with foreign entities.
Investigators are also examining the circumstances surrounding the registration of the FIR and the allegations of possible links with foreign intelligence operatives.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited. The allegations remain unproven, and the registration of an FIR does not establish guilt.
