JAMMU: In a significant move to safeguard its land assets and address long-pending land-related issues, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has successfully demarcated 7.9 kanal of land at Lower Gadigarh, nearly 15 years after it was originally leased to an allottee in 2011.
The demarcation drive was conducted under the overall supervision of JDA Vice-Chairman Vidhu Shekhar, with the assistance of the local administration and police authorities.
The land, despite being formally leased in favour of the allottee in 2011, could not be physically handed over due to resistance from certain local elements. As a result, the matter remained unresolved for several years, delaying the completion of the handover process.
With the successful demarcation, the boundaries of the allotted land have now been established, paving the way for further necessary action in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures.
During the exercise, JDA officials also effectively thwarted attempts to encroach upon the land, reinforcing the Authority’s commitment to protecting properties under its jurisdiction.
Reiterating its firm stand against illegal occupation, the JDA maintained that no encroachment on its land would be tolerated. It warned that any individual or group attempting to unlawfully occupy, alter or interfere with JDA land would face strict action under the relevant legal provisions.
The Authority further stated that safeguarding its land assets remains a priority and that all necessary measures would be taken to prevent encroachments and ensure the protection of public property.
