JAMMU: The Jammu & Kashmir Branch (NIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and under the aegis of the Beneficiary Schemes Directorate, ICAI, organised a special edition of the FIT INDIA – Sundays on Cycle campaign at MA Stadium, Jammu, on Sunday.
The event, exclusively organised for Chartered Accountants and CA students, witnessed enthusiastic participation as members came together to promote physical fitness, healthy living, environmental sustainability and responsible fuel consumption.
The programme was graced by Touseef Ahmed from the Sports Authority of India as the Chief Guest and Jeeva Sabari, Volleyball Coach, as the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries appreciated the initiative of the J&K Branch of ICAI in encouraging professionals and students to embrace healthier lifestyles while contributing to national campaigns promoting wellness and sustainability.
The event began with a cycling rally flagged off from MA Stadium, carrying the message, “Cycle for a Fitter, Healthier and Greener India.” Participants highlighted the importance of regular exercise, reducing carbon emissions and adopting eco-friendly modes of transportation.
Addressing the gathering, Touseef Ahmed commended ICAI for extending its contribution beyond the accounting profession through community-focused initiatives. He encouraged participants to make cycling and physical activity a regular part of their daily routine and appreciated the partnership between SAI and ICAI in advancing the Fit India Movement.
Speaking on the occasion, Jeeva Sabari underscored the importance of fitness in achieving both personal and professional excellence. He emphasised that sports play a vital role in building discipline, teamwork and resilience.
CA Amit Gupta, Chairman of the J&K Branch (NIRC) of ICAI, said the Branch remains committed to organising programmes that foster not only professional excellence but also the overall well-being of its members and students. He thanked the Sports Authority of India for collaborating on the initiative.
CA Jatin Malhotra, Vice Chairman, said the overwhelming participation reflected the growing awareness among professionals about maintaining a healthy lifestyle while supporting environmental sustainability.
CA Sanchit Aggarwal, Secretary, said the event successfully combined fitness, community engagement and environmental responsibility, adding that the Branch would continue to organise similar initiatives to encourage healthier lifestyles and strengthen professional camaraderie.
CA Ayush Mahajan, Treasurer, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of members and students and expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and volunteers for contributing to the success of the programme.
CA Sourav Pargal, Immediate Past Chairman, remarked that such collaborative initiatives reinforce the profession’s commitment to social responsibility and inspire members to actively support national campaigns focused on health and sustainability.
