SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta on Thursday completed his self-enumeration under the second phase of Census 2027 at Lok Bhavan and appealed to people to provide accurate information to ensure the success of the nationwide exercise.
Director, Census Directorate, Himachal Pradesh, Deep Shikha Sharma, along with other senior officials of the Directorate, was present on the occasion.
During the exercise, Sharma briefed the Governor in detail about all 40 questions related to population enumeration and explained their broader socio-economic significance.
The Governor said the second phase of Census 2027, involving population enumeration, would be conducted in snow-bound areas of Himachal Pradesh from September 1 to September 30, 2026.
He said the census exercise was extremely important for accurate formulation of development policies and welfare schemes in the state.
Gupta informed that a special facility for digital self-enumeration had been made available for residents of snow-bound areas from August 17 to August 31, 2026, keeping public convenience in mind.
He appealed to eligible residents to make full use of the official self-enumeration portal before August 31 and enter complete and correct information about themselves and their families.
The Governor also urged citizens to extend full cooperation to enumerators during the door-to-door exercise scheduled from September 1 to 30.
He said people should welcome the enumerators and provide accurate information as responsible citizens to make Census 2027 a success.
