RAJOURI: gunfight broke out in the Beeranthub area of Rajouri on Tuesday evening, with four terrorists believed to be trapped during an ongoing encounter with security forces.
The incident began around 7:20 pm when terrorists opened fire on a team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), a counter-terrorism unit, during a search operation. Security forces immediately returned fire, resulting in a firefight.
There have been no reports of casualties or injuries among the security personnel so far. Joint teams of the Police, Army, and CRPF have rushed to the site and cordoned off the area to contain the situation.
The area of the encounter is under the supervision of the 43 Rashtriya Rifles, a counter-insurgency unit of the Indian Army. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have appealed to locals to avoid the area until the operation concludes.
