JAMMU: A Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on “Research Methodology in Medical Education” was organised by the Postgraduate Department of Pathology, Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, under the aegis of AACP and the J&K Chapter of IAPM on Friday.
The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Jyotsna Suri, Professor and Head, Department of Pathology, GMC Jammu, while the CME was formally inaugurated by Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu.
A key highlight of the programme was the formal inauguration of the Dr V.K. Dubey Memorial Oration by Dr Yudhvir Gupta, Chairman, J&K Chapter of IAPM, instituted in memory of the late Prof. V.K. Dubey, a distinguished pathologist, teacher, mentor, Dogri poet and music lover.
Paying tributes to his former teacher, Dr Gupta recalled Prof. Dubey’s contribution to medical education and his role in mentoring generations of students and pathologists.
He also highlighted Prof. Dubey’s passion for the songs of Mohammed Rafi and his literary contribution of nearly 170 Dogri poems, written under the pen name “Rana Panjtirthi.”
Dr Gupta announced that he and Prof. Jyotsna Suri were considering compiling and publishing the poems as a lasting tribute to Prof. Dubey’s literary legacy.
He observed that while Prof. Dubey was no longer physically present, his teachings, poetry, music and values would continue to inspire future generations.
The inaugural Dr V.K. Dubey Memorial Oration, titled “The Road Not Taken: A Journey of Thirty Years,” was delivered by Dr Ranjan Aggarwal, former Secretary, IAPM, and Professor and Head, Department of Pathology, RMRI, Bareilly.
The CME featured a series of expert lectures and interactive sessions covering ethics and plagiarism, teaching-learning methods, analytical study designs, statistical tools, research proposals, thesis writing and scientific publication.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Rajat Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, GMC Jammu.
