UDHAMPUR: Director Horticulture Jammu Gul Syed today visited Ghordi in Udhampur District, where a Farmers’ Awareness Camp was organised at Dalsar Panchayat.
He attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
At the outset, Chief Horticulture Officer Brij Vallabh Gupta briefed the participants about the various horticultural activities being undertaken in the district in the current financial year.
The Director interacted with the farmers and held detailed discussions on the development and promotion of horticulture in the area. He listened to the issues, requirements and suggestions put forth by the farming community and assured them of all possible technical support and assistance from the Department. He highlighted the importance of adopting modern horticultural practices, using quality planting material, scientific orchard management and crop diversification to enhance productivity and improve the farm income
The awareness camp provided an effective platform for direct interaction between the Department and the farming community. The objective was to strengthen farmer-oriented services and promote the overall development of the horticulture sector in Ghordi and adjoining areas of Udhampur District.
The Director was accompanied by Assistant Director Horticulture, Sunil Gupta and District Horticulture Officer Vijay Kumar, Technical Officer, Sandeep Sharma, Horticulture Development Officers Rajesh Gupta, Adarsh Kumar and Raman Thappa.
Later, the Director inspected the PEQ Centre, Marta and took stock of the activities being carried out there. He reviewed the progress of the ongoing activities and directed the concerned officials to work with zeal, dedication and a result-oriented approach.
