JAMMU: The English Department of Heritage School recently organized a two-day Book Swap Program, culminating in a successful exchange of books among students.
The event began on October 29, with an inaugural ceremony graced by Chairman Sunil Gupta, Members of the Board of Trustees, Principal, Vice-Principal, Mentor, Headmistress, and Coordinators.
The opening day featured a range of literary activities showcasing students’ creativity, including rewriting classics, reading marked book passages, and a thought-provoking role-play highlighting the plight of a book in modern times compared to a mobile phone.
On October 30, the book swap—open to students of Classes 9 to 12—witnessed an overwhelming response, with around 270 books exchanged. The initiative aimed to promote reading habits, foster community among book lovers, and encourage sustainable practices through the reuse and recycling of books.
The program also formed part of the school’s RIDS activities, helping global learners read, analyse, and compare literature across countries, cultures, and time periods.
Guests were felicitated with handmade badges and bookmarks crafted by students of Class 12-D, adding a personal and creative touch to the occasion. The event was widely appreciated, with participants and guests praising the efforts of the English Department.
The school management congratulated the department and participants for making the event a memorable one and encouraged more such holistic initiatives in the future.
