JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed Dr. Twinkle Suri, Principal Dean Academic Affairs at Cluster University of Jammu, as Director Colleges, J&K, with immediate effect.
The appointment was made through Government Order No. 305-JK(HE) of 2026, dated September 7, 2026, on the recommendation of the Selection Committee and with the approval of the competent authority.
Dr. Suri brings with her 31 years of teaching and administrative experience. She has served as the Founding Dean, Students Welfare, and Head of the Department of English at Cluster University of Jammu for seven years. She has also served as Principal of Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College, Samba, for more than two years, besides holding the position of Deputy Director, Academics, J&K Board of School Education.
An English Honours graduate from Sophia College, Ajmer, Dr. Suri is among the early scholars to undertake research on Black women’s writing, with particular focus on African women. Her book, A Room of Their Own: Women’s Voices in Africa, has received appreciation in literary circles at the international level.
Dr. Suri will take over as Director Colleges after Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at IUST, was relieved of the additional charge of the post.
As per the government order, the term of Director Colleges will be two years, extendable by one year, subject to satisfactory performance and applicable service rules, or until a fresh selection is made for the post.
