REASI: Continuing its strict enforcement of law and order, District Police Reasi apprehended one person for violating prohibitory orders related to the possession of liquor in a notified area.
On January 21, 2026, a police team from PCP Panthal under Police Post Kakryal apprehended an individual identified as Manohar Lal, son of Giyan Chand, resident of Taleen, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi. He was found in possession of 12 bottles of liquor (DMB Whisky) during routine checking.
It is pertinent to mention that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Katra, vide Order No. SDM/K/2025-26/81-96 dated January 2, 2025, had imposed prohibitory orders on the possession and consumption of liquor in various notified areas, including within a 100-metre radius on both sides of the Tikri–Panthal Road. The accused was found in clear violation of these lawful orders.
Accordingly, FIR No. 32/2026 under Section 223(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted by IC PP Kakryal PSI Akhilesh Khajuria and SHO Police Station Katra Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS, reiterated the police department’s commitment to strict enforcement of prohibitory orders and urged the general public to comply with lawful directions to avoid legal action.
