SRINAGAR: Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS, on Monday chaired a general security review meeting at the Conference Hall of PCR Kashmir to assess preparedness for the Republic Day–2026 celebrations across the Valley.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of the J&K Police, Intelligence Agencies, Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including the Special DG Coordination, JD IB J&K/L, IG BSF Frontier Headquarters, IGP Kashmir Zone, IG CRPF Srinagar, Additional Commissioner SB Srinagar, DIG SSB Srinagar, DIGs CRPF South and North Srinagar, DIG Armed Kashmir, Range DIGs of Kashmir Zone, DIG RPF Kashmir, District SSPs of Kashmir Zone, Col GS (IS) 15 Corps, SSPs Traffic City Srinagar, Traffic Rural Kashmir, PCR Kashmir, GRP Kashmir, CID SBK, CID CIK, Security Kashmir, APCR Srinagar, and other officers.
At the outset, the participating officers briefed the DGP on intelligence inputs, security measures and preparedness plans, detailing steps to strengthen security, safeguard public spaces and ensure the smooth conduct of Republic Day events at all designated locations in the Valley.
During the meeting, DGP Nalin Prabhat assigned specific responsibilities with strict instructions for precise execution. Key areas of discussion included crowd management, traffic regulation, intelligence assessment, strategic deployment of forces and protection of vulnerable targets. He stressed the need for foolproof security arrangements and directed district heads to closely monitor social media to prevent the spread of misinformation that could affect public safety and law and order.
The DGP also instructed officers to intensify surveillance of anti-national elements and enhance area domination. The Traffic Wing was directed to formulate an effective traffic management plan to ensure smooth movement of the general public as well as protected persons. Security arrangements for highways, lateral roads, railway tracks and stations across the Valley were also reviewed.
SSP Security Kashmir was directed to implement a comprehensive security plan at the main Republic Day venue, taking into account all possible security concerns.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to ensure peaceful, secure and incident-free Republic Day celebrations across Kashmir.
