REASI: District Development Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired the quarterly meeting of the District Level Review Committee (DLRC)/District Consultative Committee (DCC) to review banking performance, credit flow, implementation of financial schemes and progress of financial inclusion initiatives in the district.
The meeting reviewed the performance of banks under the Annual Credit Plan, with particular focus on priority sector lending, agriculture and MSME financing, besides the implementation of various government-sponsored schemes.
The DDC stressed the need for close coordination between banks and concerned departments to ensure timely disposal of sponsored cases and facilitate eligible beneficiaries in accessing financial assistance under various schemes. He called for enhanced focus on agriculture, MSMEs and other priority sectors to strengthen credit delivery and expand financial outreach across the district.
The meeting also reviewed financial inclusion initiatives, including social security schemes. The DDC emphasized the need for intensified awareness and outreach regarding banking and social security services, particularly in far-flung and underserved areas.
Measures to strengthen banking services in unbanked areas were also discussed. The DDC stressed the need to expand banking coverage through Business Correspondents (BCs) to facilitate access to basic banking services for people residing in areas with limited banking facilities.
The DDC directed the Agriculture Department to share the list of KKG members with banks to facilitate identification of eligible members for engagement as Business Correspondents. He also directed the District Programme Manager, Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission, to prepare a proposal for opening a new bank branch at Gulabgarh and submit it to the Lead District Manager for further necessary action.
The meeting further reviewed the Department of Financial Services (DFS) Saturation Campaign, covering awareness and enrollment under social security schemes, activation of inoperative accounts, KYC-related services and nomination facilities.
The meeting was attended by Lead District Officer, Reserve Bank of India, Sourab Gupta; Lead District Manager; District Sheep Husbandry Officer; Chief Horticulture Officer and other concerned officers.
