KULGAM: An awareness program under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was held today at Kulgam under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam.
The awareness program was organised to sensitize local construction firms and contractors about the scheme’s benefits and implementation framework.
Superintendent ITI Kulgam gave a comprehensive briefing on the NAPS scheme, highlighting the critical role,the construction establishments play in onboarding apprentices to bridge the local skill gap.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that registration on the NAPS portal is mandatory for all eligible establishments and urged contractors and construction firms to actively engage for nourishing industry-ready talent. He called upon local firms to register promptly, noting that industry participation in apprenticeship programs directly enhances the district’s skilled manpower pool.
During the program, a detailed presentation was delivered to guide participants through the step-by-step registration process on the NAPS portal for both establishments and aspiring students/trainees.The session concluded with an interactive Q&A where officials addressed queries from contractors regarding portal navigation, stipends, and engagement guidelines.
The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Superintending Engineer (SE) R&B, Executive Engineer (Exen) R&B, Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Kulgam, and Superintendent ITI Kulgam, alongside a large gathering of local contractors and representatives from construction firms.
