JAMMU: On 23 December 2025, City Police Jammu received a Zero FIR from Police Station Ashmuqam in connection with a case of theft and cheating, involving the theft of a mobile phone and illegal online transfer of money from the complainant’s account.
The complainant alleged that his mobile phone was stolen from the Gummat area of Jammu, following which an amount of approximately ₹1 lakh was fraudulently transferred online through different accounts using the stolen mobile phone.
Upon registration of the case, investigation was initiated. During the course of investigation and scrutiny of records, it came to light that the accused had illegally transferred money from the complainant’s mobile phone in two transactions of ₹40,000 each to unknown Kashmiri individuals. Additionally, a Vivo mobile phone worth ₹21,000 was purchased from a mobile seller shop using the fraudulently obtained money.
Based on technical evidence and sustained efforts, a police team from Police Station City Jammu, led by SHO Inspector Shakti Devi, assisted by PSI Imran Hameed and PSI Kumar Vishesh, under the supervision of SDPO City North Jammu and close supervision of SP City North Jammu, conducted raids at multiple locations including Belicharana, Jewel area, and Gummat.
As a result, two accused persons were successfully arrested:
- Ibrahim Hussain Rather, S/o Abdul Rehman Rather, R/o Dever Yatnampora, Pattan, Baramulla
- Ishfaq Ahmed Parrey, S/o Ali Mohd Parrey, R/o Beerwah, Budgam
During the operation, one mobile handset purchased using the cheated money was also recovered from the possession of the accused.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
