JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators on Tuesday staged a protest inside the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, demanding the establishment of a National Law University (NLU) in Jammu, as the second day of the ongoing Budget Session commenced.
Raising slogans inside the House, the BJP MLAs sought immediate clarity from the government on the proposed location of the NLU, asserting that Jammu has long been deprived of premier educational institutions.
The protest came a day after Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma announced that the BJP would intensify its agitation and join students in pressing for the establishment of a National Law University in Jammu. He maintained that the demand reflects the aspirations of the youth and the legal fraternity of the region.
