JAMMU: In an era where digital perception often outpaces ground reality, eminent journalist and motivator Pradeep Dutta highlighted how modern wars are increasingly shaped by dominant narratives rather than battlefield victories alone.
Speaking to students of Army Public School Domana, Dutta explained that information, visibility, and perception have become decisive elements in contemporary conflicts.
Drawing from his reporting experience during Operation Sindoor, Dutta remarked,
“We now live in an age where perception travels faster than truth—where screens shape narratives, and visibility matters as much as virtue.”
His words underscored the shifting nature of warfare, where narrative, communication, and public perception can influence outcomes as strongly as military action.
He emphasised that strategic communication is now a crucial part of national security.
“It is no longer enough to do the right thing. We must be seen doing it—clearly and convincingly—on a global stage,” he said, stressing the impact of rapidly spreading digital information and how narratives are shaped within seconds.
As the founder of the digital platform Pradeep Dutta – Line of Communication (LoC), he works to dismantle anti-India propaganda and promote counter-narratives rooted in facts. His initiatives highlight the importance of communication and narrative-building as powerful tools of modern warfare.
Beyond journalism, Dutta inspired the students with his motivational outlook, using poetic expressions to encourage ambition and discipline.
“Muqadran de mathe utte takhti lugdi unhadi, jehde gharon bana ke chalde ne naqsha apne saffna da,” he said, meaning that only those who chart their own path and work toward clear goals can shape their destiny.
Through stories drawn from personal experiences, he urged students to avoid negativity and distractions.
“Once you make up your mind, stick to that goal,” he advised, encouraging them to stay determined and focused.
The session also included an engaging interaction on war reporting, journalism ethics, and the influence of digital media. When asked whether he ever feels fear while reporting from conflict zones, Dutta responded,
“When you’re driven by passion, delivery takes over, and fear takes a back seat.”
His response left a strong impact on the young audience, motivating them to pursue their dreams with conviction.
The school principal, Pushpinder Kaur, presented Dutta with a memento and a painting created by a student. The event was moderated by Madhur, the school counsellor, and concluded with an insightful Q&A session.
