NEW DELHI: Premier Defence Research agency DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) has conducted the maiden flight tests of Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the coast of Odisha. The flight tests were conducted on August 23 at around 12.30 pm. IADWS is a multi-layered air defence system comprising all indigenous Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM), Advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles and a high-power laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW). JAMMU: A suspicious aeroplane-shaped balloon with Pakistan International Airlines’ logo on it was found on Sunday in J&K’s Jammu city. Officials said that the white and saffron-coloured Pakistani balloon was found in the Nai Basti area of Jammu and had ‘PIA’ written on it in green colour. Balloons released into the air from the Pakistani side across the international border have periodically been found in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts close to the border.
JAMMU: A bridge on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Sahaar Khad in Kathua district was damaged by flash floods as heavy rains continued across Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Sunday morning. According to an official, the bridge at Sahaar Khad near Kathua suffered damage due to the flash floods. He added that heavy rains continue in the area.

JAMMU: Jammu City witnessed an extraordinary spell of rainfall in the past 24 hours, recording 190.4 millimetres of precipitation till 8:30 a.m. Sunday. This has gone down as the second-highest single-day rainfall for the month of August in nearly a century. The only higher mark, remains the 228.6 millimetres recorded on 5 August 1926. With the latest spell, Jammu has also surpassed its previous second-highest figure of 189.6 millimetres, which was logged on 11 August 2022.
