JAMMU: A roaring Tawi River, popularly known as Surya Putri, has struck fear in Jammu residents. Swollen by record-breaking rain, the river inundated hundreds of homes and hectares of farmland, washed away structures and livestock, and displaced over 6,000 people, all within a day. SRINAGAR: A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday, police said. The seizure is a major blow to the nefarious designs of terrorists and their supporters. It has averted possible terror activities in the area, they said. Handwara police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) recovered the cache of arms, ammunition, and other incriminating material from Bhuvan Forest in Rajwar, a police spokesperson said. JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir witnessed unprecedented monsoon onslaught, with Jammu logging 380 mm of rainfall in 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Wednesday, the highest ever recorded in the city since 1910 when the observatory was set up.
