JAMMU: The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has announced the closure of all government and private schools across the Jammu Division on October 6 and 7 in view of heavy rainfall forecasts. The order, issued by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary (JKAS), Director School Education Jammu, comes following a weather advisory from the Indian Meteorological Department, which has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several areas of the division. “To ensure the safety and security of students and staff, all Government and Private Schools across Jammu Division shall remain closed on 06-10-2025 (Monday) and 07-10-2025 (Tuesday),” the order reads.…

NEW DELHI: The operating crew of Air India’s Amritsar-Birmingham flight reported that the Boeing 787’s Ram Air Turbine (RAT) unexpectedly deployed during the final approach on October 4, but the aircraft landed safely, the airline said on Sunday. RAT deploys automatically in the eventuality of a dual engine failure or total electronic or hydraulic failure. It uses wind speed to generate emergency power. SRINAGAR: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah (87) has been hospitalised after falling unwell over the past few days, party leaders said on Saturday.
