SRINAGAR: Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth has stressed the need for constant vigilance, sharper intelligence-led operations and a relentless operational focus to stay ahead of emerging terrorist threats in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his visit to forward areas in north and central Kashmir, including Kupwara and Budgam, General Seth reviewed the operational preparedness of forces deployed in the region and was briefed on the prevailing security situation and measures to detect, deter and decisively respond to terrorist threats.
Commending the troops for their professionalism, commitment and high standards of preparedness, the Army Chief exhorted them to maintain constant vigilance and retain the ability to respond swiftly and precisely to emerging threats. He also emphasised the importance of seamless coordination among security stakeholders to enhance situational awareness and strengthen the overall counter-terror response.
During the visit, commendations were pinned onto deserving soldiers for their gallantry and exemplary service, recognising their courage and contribution to counter-terrorist operations.
General Seth stressed the need to remain ahead of the threat while maintaining a coordinated and calibrated response, with the safety and security of the local population remaining a key priority.
“True to the spirit of ‘JAI se VIJAY’, the Indian Army remains resolute in countering terrorism, strengthening synergy, protecting the people, and maintaining a secure environment,” the Additional Directorate General of Public Information said.
The security review comes amid heightened counter-terror operations across north and central Kashmir. Earlier this month, the Army said a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, identified as Pakistani national Yasir, was neutralised during an operation in the dense forests of Yusmarg in Budgam district.
Security forces have continued operations across the Pir Panjal range and adjoining forest corridors to detect terror hideouts and counter infiltration attempts.
