JAMMU: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu and Kashmir has registered a disproportionate assets case against Surjit Singh, Naib Tehsildar (Election) posted at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Rajouri.
According to officials, the case has been registered under FIR No. 05/2025 U/S 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt. 2006 at Police Station ACB Doda.
The action follows a verification conducted by the Bureau into allegations that the officer had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The probe revealed that the accused possessed substantial assets, both movable and immovable, in his own name as well as in the names of his family members.
The ACB said that the suspect owned a double-storey house in District Ramban, maintained large bank balances and fixed deposits, held LIC policies, and possessed a Swift car, costly household items, electronic gadgets, and jewellery — all allegedly beyond his legitimate income.
Following the findings, the Bureau obtained search warrants from the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Doda, and carried out searches at three locations:
- Maitra, District Ramban
- Janipur, Jammu
- DC Colony, Rajouri
The searches were conducted in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses.
Officials said that further investigation is in progress to ascertain the full extent of the disproportionate assets and other financial irregularities.
