JAMMU: Two balloons bearing markings linked to Pakistan were recovered from Village Gunara near Nili Nallah in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district on Monday, prompting a police inquiry.
Official sources said the balloons were found in an open area under the jurisdiction of Khour Police Station. The material reportedly carried a Pakistani mobile phone number and a printed image resembling a scanner code. Some Pakistani and United States currency notes were also recovered from the spot.
Following the information, police teams rushed to the location and secured the items. The recovered material has been taken into custody for further examination.
Authorities are verifying the origin of the balloons and the purpose behind the printed contact details and foreign currency. Security agencies are also assessing whether the incident has any cross-border linkage or is part of a wider pattern of similar recoveries reported earlier in border areas.
Officials said more details would emerge after preliminary verification and technical analysis of the seized material.
