JAMMU: FICCI FLO Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Chapter has welcomed the inauguration and development of the Shankaracharya Temple Katra, calling it a significant step toward strengthening the spiritual and cultural identity of the region.
Chairperson Aarti Chowdhary extended congratulations to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for what she described as a visionary initiative aimed at enhancing Jammu & Kashmir’s spiritual infrastructure and preserving its rich heritage.
She also appreciated the efforts of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for conceptualising and executing the project, noting that it harmoniously blends faith with development.
“The Shankaracharya Temple is not only a symbol of deep religious devotion but will also emerge as a prominent spiritual landmark in Katra and Jammu. Such initiatives reinforce Jammu’s position as a major pilgrimage hub and reflect a strong commitment to nurturing our timeless spiritual traditions,” she said.
With renowned shrines such as the Vaishno Devi Temple and the Amarnath Temple attracting millions of devotees annually, the addition of the Shankaracharya Temple is expected to further strengthen the region’s standing on India’s spiritual tourism map.
FICCI FLO JKL stated that apart from its religious significance, the project is likely to generate economic opportunities by boosting trade, hospitality, transport, and allied sectors, contributing to inclusive and sustainable growth in the Union Territory.
Reaffirming its support, the organisation reiterated its commitment to initiatives promoting religious tourism, infrastructure development, and holistic progress across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
