JAMMU: Continuing its intensified crackdown against bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu (Rural) Police foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli.
Acting on specific inputs, police teams intercepted two vehicles at different locations in the area. During checking, 10 bovine animals were found being transported illegally without valid permission.
The seized vehicles include JK19A-1567, carrying four bovines, and JK19A-2998, carrying six bovines. All the animals were rescued safely and shifted to the police station, where arrangements for water and fodder were made. Both vehicles involved in the illegal transportation were seized.
In this regard, FIR No. 142/2025 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli against Zulfikar Ahmed, son of Parvez Ahmed of Hillar Harama, Anantnag, and Altaf Ahmed, son of Nishat Ahmed of Ainoo Brai, Tehsil Pahalgam, District Anantnag, in connection with vehicle JK19A-1567.
Another case, FIR No. 143/2025, has been registered under the same sections in connection with vehicle JK19A-2998 against an unknown driver, who fled the spot taking advantage of darkness.
Further investigation in both cases is underway.
