JAMMU: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) has appointed noted industrialist Rakesh Bhat as the Co-Chair of the FICCI Jammu & Kashmir State Council for the term 2025–2026.
Rakesh Bhat, a veteran entrepreneur with over 30 years of leadership in the manufacturing sector, is the Founder and Managing Director of the Shalimar Group of Companies, which includes Shalimar Carpet Industries, Shalimar Floorings Pvt. Ltd., and Shalimar Carpet Manufacturing & Cleaning Co.
He is widely regarded for his pivotal role in modernizing and elevating the carpet industry in Jammu & Kashmir, championing advanced production techniques and sustainable industry practices.
In his new role as Co-Chair, Bhat will steer FICCI’s initiatives in the region, focusing on reforms, manufacturing-led growth, skill development, technology adoption, and promoting self-reliance across key sectors of the J&K economy.

Established in 1927, FICCI is India’s oldest and one of its most influential industry chambers. Notably, Mahatma Gandhi addressed its 4th Annual General Meeting in 1931. Today, FICCI continues to work closely with stakeholders across industry, government, academia, and research, with its sectoral committees and state councils serving as critical platforms for policy input and industry engagement.
