JAMMU: Shreya Gupta, one of Jammu and Kashmir’s most promising fencing stars, delivered a stellar performance at the Khelo India University Games, securing the silver medal in the Sabre event held from November 24 to 28.
Representing Guru Nanak Dev University, Shreya put up a strong fight in the final, narrowly missing the gold after a close 15-13 bout against Haryana’s Aakhri Sharma.
Shreya’s latest accomplishment adds to an already impressive year. She represented India at the World University Games, gaining invaluable international exposure, and just last week captured gold in the senior individual category at the National Championship in New Delhi.
Her silver medal has been widely celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir, with local sports enthusiasts and sporting bodies applauding her consistent rise. Shreya’s continued success further strengthens her position as one of the top young fencers in the country.
