JAMMU: In preparation for the upcoming Nagrota Assembly bye-election, two route marches-cum-briefings of NAFRI personnel deployed in the rural zone of Jammu District were conducted today under the supervision of SSP Jammu, SP Rural Jammu, and SDPO Nagrota, within the jurisdictions of Police Stations Jhajjar Kotli and Nagrota. The exercises involved jawans and officers from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) along with the local police.
The route marches form part of standard election security measures, aimed at familiarizing personnel with the area and enhancing their preparedness to manage any potential law and order situations during polling. They also facilitate effective intelligence gathering and improve coordination among different security agencies.
Officials said the visible presence of security forces during these exercises acts as a deterrent to anti-social or disruptive elements, while instilling confidence among the public and encouraging greater participation in the democratic process.
“These marches not only ensure vigilance and readiness but also reinforce the commitment to a free, fair, and peaceful election in line with the democratic ethos of the nation,” a police spokesperson said.
