JAMMU: Seventy-one new dengue cases were reported across the Jammu division on Thursday, taking the total number of infections this season to 2,051.
According to health officials, 543 tests were conducted on October 16. Of the new cases, 51 are males and 20 females, including 8 children and 63 adults. Jammu district reported the highest 39 cases, raising its cumulative count to 893, followed by Udhampur (15), Kathua (7), Samba (5), Reasi (2), and Rajouri (1). Two infections were also detected among residents of other states/UTs.
So far, 19,703 tests have been conducted this year — slightly fewer than in 2024 — though total infections remain notably lower than last year’s 3,345 cases.
Hospital data indicates no new admissions on Thursday, while nine patients remain under treatment. Health authorities have urged residents to stay vigilant, eliminate stagnant water, and use mosquito repellents to prevent further spread.
