KATRA: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, District Police Reasi today achieved a major success by apprehending a narcotics peddler with heroin at Naka Panthal under Police Post Kakryal.
During routine checking, police intercepted one person, Ajay Singh S/o Rattan Lal R/o Panthal, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, who was riding a Yamaha SZR motorcycle (Chassis No. ME11PN039C2050826, Engine No. 1PM3050964). On thorough search, 04 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, FIR No. 263/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Katra and investigation has been set into motion.
It is pertinent to mention that the accused is a notorious drug peddler and is already facing trial in two earlier NDPS cases registered at P/S Katra:
- FIR No. 99/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act
- FIR No. 47/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act
The successful operation was carried out under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubeyand SP Katra Vipan Chandran.
District Police Reasi, under the overall supervision of SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh has reaffirmed its firm resolve to intensify the campaign against drug abuse and appealed to the public to cooperate in eradicating this menace from society.
