MUMBAI: Reliance Jio and Canva on Tuesday announced a strategic partnership aimed at making AI-powered design and visual communication tools more accessible to millions of users across India, with eligible Jio customers set to receive up to 12 months of Canva Pro or Canva Pro Lite free of cost.
Under the partnership, eligible Jio users will be able to access Canva’s premium templates, creative tools and AI-powered design features without any additional charge. The offer is worth up to ₹4,000 and can be claimed through the MyJio app in just a few taps.
The offer will be linked to eligible Jio recharge plans. Users on the ₹399 plan will receive Canva Pro, while those on the ₹349 plan and all 2GB/day plans above ₹349 will receive Canva Pro Lite. The offer is scheduled to go live across channels from September 16, 2026.
The partnership combines Jio’s digital reach with Canva’s AI-powered creative platform, targeting students, creators, professionals, entrepreneurs and small businesses. Canva’s platform offers millions of premium templates, photos, videos and fonts, along with tools such as background removal, Magic Resize and Magic Eraser.
A key focus of the initiative is accessibility in Indian languages. Canva will support Hindi and multiple Indian languages, enabling users to create presentations, school projects, social media content, marketing material, festival greetings and other visual content directly from their phones.
Jio President Kiran Thomas said the partnership would place world-class, AI-powered design tools in the hands of millions of Indians, enabling students, creators, entrepreneurs and small businesses to create, learn, grow and earn in a digital-first India.
Canva Co-Founder and COO Cliff Obrecht said India was one of Canva’s fastest-growing markets and described the partnership with Jio as a new chapter in expanding access to the platform among Indian creators, educators and businesses.
Under the Pro Lite offering, users will receive premium templates and media, one-tap background removal, basic Brand Kit functionality, print-ready exports, Magic Resize, Magic Eraser and generous cloud storage. Canva Pro additionally includes advanced Brand Kit capabilities, Content Planner, Canva AI’s conversational chat-to-design feature and higher AI limits.
The initiative is positioned as a major push towards making professional-quality design and AI-enabled creativity more accessible to users across India, regardless of their location, profession or prior design experience.
