KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting of the District Telecom Committee to review the progress of telecom infrastructure and connectivity initiatives in the district.
At the outset, comprehensive discussions were held on land allotment, CAT V/VI/VII cases, electricity connections to mobile towers, telecom services in border villages, 5G street furniture, Amended BharatNet (ABN), CBUD implementation and Samridh Gram Panchayat initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to adopt a proactive, coordinated and time-bound approach towards resolving pending issues and removing procedural bottlenecks.
“Seamless inter-departmental coordination is essential for timely execution of telecom infrastructure projects and strengthening reliable telecom connectivity and digital services, particularly in the border and rural areas of the district,” he stressed.
The Forest Department was directed to expedite clearance of all pending cases pertaining to the Telecom Department to ensure that telecom infrastructure works are not delayed.
The DC instructed the Telecom Department to obtain permission from the concerned development agency before undertaking any telecom-related work, besides ensuring adherence to prescribed procedures and proper coordination with the concerned agencies.
The meeting also reviewed the status of pending matters and emphasized their speedy disposal to facilitate better telecom connectivity and effective implementation of ongoing initiatives.
Among others, ADDC Kathua, ADC Kathua, Mahima Madan, ADC Basohli Vishavjeet Singh, ACD Kathua, XEN PWD, XEN PDD, XEN PHE and representatives of the Telecom Department attended the meeting.
