JAMMU: The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF), Crime Branch Jammu, on Wednesday conducted an extensive checking operation at major courier centres across Jammu district as part of its ongoing efforts to prevent the transportation and illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances through courier and parcel services.
The operation was carried out with the assistance of a trained sniffer dog, which was deployed for a thorough inspection of parcels and consignments. Various courier centres were systematically checked, with consignments subjected to detailed scrutiny to detect any possible transportation of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances through courier channels.
The ANTF said the operation forms part of its strategy to identify and disrupt the use of courier services for transporting contraband and strengthen surveillance against emerging methods adopted by drug traffickers.
The checking operation was conducted by Inspector Pawan Kumar Dogra, along with the team of Police Station ANTF Jammu, under the supervision of DySP Ravinder Singh, SHO Police Station ANTF Jammu, and the overall supervision and guidance of SSP ANTF J&K Anwar-ul-Haq.
The ANTF J&K reiterated that strict surveillance and checking of courier and parcel services would continue. It warned that anyone found involved in transporting narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances through such channels would face action under the relevant provisions of law.
The task force also appealed to courier service providers and the general public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious parcel, consignment or activity to the concerned police authorities.
