NEW DELHI: The President of India has appointed Dr Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati, Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, the appointment has been made in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India.
The notification, dated September 5, 2026, states that Justice Bhati will assume office as Chief Justice with effect from the date he takes charge.
The appointment order has been communicated to the concerned authorities, including the offices of the Lieutenant Governors of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
Justice Bhati is currently serving as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court.
