KULGAM: Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Review Committee (DLRC)/District Consultative Committee (DCC) at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Kulgam, to review the performance of banks and implementation of various Government-sponsored schemes for the quarter ended June 2026 of FY 2026-27.
The meeting reviewed the progress of banks under the Annual Credit Plan (ACP), Priority Sector Lending, Government-sponsored schemes and Social Security Schemes.
At the outset, Lead District Manager Kulgam, Iftikhar Ahmad Padder, apprised the meeting that the banks operating in District Kulgam recorded a total business of ₹5,820.77 crore as on 30.06.2026.
The deposits increased from ₹2,725.40 crore as on 30 June 2025 to ₹3,093.44 crore as on 30 June 2026, registering a YoY growth of 13.50%, while advances increased from ₹2,470.81 crore to ₹2,727.33 crore, registering a YoY growth of 10.38%. The district’s Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio stood at 88% as on 30.06.2026.
The meeting was further informed that banks disbursed ₹475.16 crore under the Annual Credit Plan against the annual target of ₹2,270.46 crore, achieving around 21% of the annual target during Q1 FY 2026-27.
Under the Priority Sector, credit disbursement stood at ₹283.67 crore against the annual target of ₹1,932.58 crore, achieving around 15% of the target. Under the Non-Priority Sector, banks disbursed ₹191.49 crore against the annual target of ₹337.88 crore.
The Deputy Commissioner directed banks and concerned line departments to adopt a coordinated and proactive approach towards improving credit flow, strengthening Priority Sector Lending and enhancing the CD Ratio. He stressed that eligible beneficiaries should receive timely institutional credit and that Government-sponsored schemes should result in meaningful employment and livelihood opportunities.
The DC laid particular emphasis on the effective implementation of Mission YUVA, PMEGP and REGP, with special focus on facilitating unemployed youth in establishing sustainable self-employment ventures. He directed sponsoring agencies and lending institutions to ensure expeditious disposal of eligible cases and minimize pendency.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed upon the need for wider coverage and effective implementation of Social Security Schemes, including PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY, to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries in the district are brought under the ambit of these schemes.
He called for enhanced coordination between banks and Government departments, regular monitoring of scheme-wise performance and intensified awareness and outreach activities at the grassroots level.
