JAMMU: Security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri sector have been placed on high alert after a suspected Pakistani drone was detected operating close to the border, Army sources said.
According to sources, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was spotted at around 8.05 p.m. on August 28 over the general area of Behrooti, falling within the operational area of responsibility of 22 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (22 JAK RIF).
Troops deployed in the forward sector tracked the drone as it manoeuvred towards the Mangalnar-Dabrote axis before its movement was monitored further.
Following the aerial activity, security forces stepped up surveillance across the sector and intensified searches in adjoining forward areas to ascertain whether the drone had dropped any weapons, ammunition, narcotics or other contraband.
Ground troops and surveillance teams have been kept on heightened alert amid concerns over possible cross-border drone activity.
