KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting of district officers and representatives of religious organisations to review and finalise arrangements for the auspicious occasion of Eid-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) falling on August 26, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure that adequate facilities are put in place well in advance so that the public does not face any inconvenience during the celebrations.
The Police Department was directed to ensure adequate deployment of police personnel across the district including in Sub-Divisions and Tehsils, with foolproof security arrangements at religious sites and along procession routes.
The District Police, ARTO and DTI Kishtwar were asked to regulate traffic smoothly and ensure a comprehensive traffic and parking management plan for hassle-free vehicular movement.
The Municipal Council Kishtwar was directed to ensure cleanliness and sanitation across the town, particularly in lanes and drains leading to mosques and other religious places.
The Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, was asked to ensure the supply of safe and chlorinated drinking water in Kishtwar town, its suburbs and at all religious places.
Similarly, the Executive Engineer, JPDCL Kishtwar was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the festival.
The Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar, was instructed to put in place adequate medical facilities including the deployment of ambulances with medical and paramedical staff to meet any emergency.
The Assistant Director, Fire & Emergency Services, was directed to keep fire tenders on round-the-clock standby.
The Assistant Director, FCS & CA, was asked to ensure sufficient availability of ration, LPG cylinders, atta, rice and other essential commodities across the district.
To curb black marketing, overcharging for essential commodities, including milk and milk products, meat, chicken, vegetables and others, as well as the sale of substandard items, a joint market-checking team comprising the Tehsildar Kishtwar, DySP Headquarters, EO MC, Designated Food Safety Officer and AC Legal Metrology has been constituted to conduct rigorous inspections.
It was also informed that a Control Room already established in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office will remain fully functional to monitor the overall situation and provide timely updates. All Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars were also directed to ensure similar arrangements in their respective jurisdictions.
The Majlis-e-Shoura Committee Kishtwar, led by Imam Sahib, Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Farooq Ahmed Kichloo Sahib and Auqaf Islamia Kishtwar, led by its representative, apprised the Deputy Commissioner of various issues and demands. The DC gave a patient hearing and assured full support from the district administration.
The DC appealed to the public of District Kishtwar to cooperate with the district administration in maintaining communal harmony, peace and brotherhood during the auspicious occasion.
