RAJOURI: On the directions of Secretary Transport J&K Avny Lavasa and Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Rajouri conducted an intensive enforcement drive along the Rajouri–Thanamandi route and in Rajouri town to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and adherence to prescribed fare rates.
During the drive, the enforcement team checked 137 vehicles, issued 21 challans and seized five e-autos for violations. A total penalty of ₹48,600 was imposed on the violators.
ARTO Ashiq Rafiq Malik directed e-auto operators to install fare meters in their vehicles and charge fares strictly as per the approved rates issued by the Transport Commissioner’s office. He also advised the operators to comply with all statutory requirements and avoid overcharging passengers.
The enforcement drive aimed to promote road safety, ensure regulatory compliance and safeguard the interests of commuters.
Among those present were MVI Lakhvinder Singh and AMVI Nitin Singh, along with other officials of MVD Rajouri, who accompanied the enforcement team during the drive.
The ARTO reiterated that strict action will be taken against vehicles found violating the Motor Vehicles Act, permit conditions or approved fare rates.
